Shaun is 19 years-old sleeping rough on the streets of London. After his father died, his mother got depressed. She started to drink more and take sleeping pills. Her depression got worse until she was hospitalized.

Four weeks before this interview, Shaun's mother died. Two weeks later, the landlord kicked him out because he couldn't pay the rent.

Shaun's first night of homelessness, he woke up with his shoes stolen. Shaun said he didn't know the rules for sleeping rough. He learned to use his shoes as a pillow.

The London Assembly housing committee report estimates that there are 13 times more hidden homeless people in London than those who are sleeping rough. Almost a quarter of a million under-25s homeless youth in London have stayed in an unsafe place because they have nowhere to call home.

Most people blame homelessness on the person experiencing it instead of the increasing shortage of affordable housing, lack of employment, a living wage or the countless reasons that put a person at risk. Since our launch in 2008, Invisible People has become a pioneer and trusted resource for inspiring action and raising awareness in support of advocacy, policy change and thoughtful dialogue around poverty in North America and the United Kingdom.

Debbie is a mother of three and has been homeless off and on for 16 years. She lives in a camping trailer with five other people off a side street in Hollywood.

In most cases, the mobile homeless€ (those living in vehicles) are new to the streets. Many have just lost their job and apartment and are doing everything they can to keep their car. Usually, these newly homeless need basic outreach services to get back on their feet and become financially independent.

Sadly, the mobile homeless are becoming more common in our weak economy, yet in some areas of the country, such as LA County, it is illegal to live in a vehicle. Advocates are trying to change the law in LA but face fierce resistance from potential abutters in areas pegged for rezoning. Seems the mobile homeless are unwanted throughout the city.

Since the holiday was just two days away, I asked Debbie if she had any plans. But to Debbie, and other homeless people across the country, Christmas is just another day to survive.

La pianiste turque Büşra Kayıkçı émeut le Piano Day d’ARTE Concert par la beauté de ses notes néoclassiques.

Büşra Kayıkçı est née et a grandi à Istanbul. Dès son plus jeune âge, elle se passionne pour un large éventail d’expressions artistiques : le piano, la danse classique, la peinture…  Guidée par cette sensibilité artistique, elle devient architecte d’intérieur et designer environnemental… avant que son amour du piano ne la rattrape. Aujourd’hui, Büşra Kayıkçı navigue entre ces deux univers, l’un nourrissant l’autre.

Face à son piano, Büşra Kayıkçı s’inspire de figures comme John Cage et Nils Frahm. À la croisée du minimalisme et du néoclassique, elle enrichit son univers sonore en intégrant des textures électro-acoustiques. Elle donne ainsi naissance à des compositions saisissantes de beauté.

La discographie de Büşra Kayıkçı compte trois albums : Eskizler (2019), Bluets (2022) et Places (2023). A noter également : son morceau 'Qarib' a été intégré dans la première compilation Piano Day, publiée en 2022 par le label Leiter Verlag de Nils Frahm. Avec cette validation de Nils Frahm, qui a permis à l’artiste turque de lancer sa toute première tournée, il était donc tout naturel d’inviter Büşra Kayıkçı à NOTRE Piano Day.

Welcome back! Always good to see you returning for another video. This was filmed at a few of my favorite tracks with my favorite people. Most of this took place at USAir Motorsports in Shawano, Wisconsin at ClubFR drift days. Nate from Villains Sportsland was kind enough to bring me out to Walla Walla, Washington to film a great event out there. The stuff I didn't include in the cozy video is here. Drift Team Ghost went to gridlife at Road America for the summer apex event so I tagged along for a very brief visit. Maybe this year they'll allow me to film from somewhere remotely close to the track. It was good to leave however as Drift Indy hosted their Street League event that same weekend and it was nice seeing those guys shred the Roller Coaster of love. The full comp is in here and you will enjoy it. Wrapping up the 2024 season I went down to Jimmy's Knuckle Up event in Houston, Texas. Sure, it's actually New Caney but you've probably never heard of it. It's a nice place with a lot in common with the home track here in Wisconsin. This has ended up being the largest project I've put together so far and the time in between videos reflects that.
